Free Family Fun Day Events Return

alt Panera Bread and United Way for Southeastern Michigan Team Up to Host FREE Family Fun Days every second Saturday of the month. I took the kids to a couple of the events in 2010, and they loved them! We're pleased to announce that Free Family Fun Days is back for 2011. See below for the dates and locations of the events.

The event was very well run and the staff truly enjoyed being with the kids, and they were so incredibly kind and helpful. They read stories to the kids and helped them at each of the craft stations - all with smiles and genuine kindness.

It's not easy to put these events on, so I was impressed to see different activities at each. And, all the activities have learning components associated with them. Another small detail that added a nice touch... all the kids got juice and the parents got coffee. These freebies are always welcome!

I met with a staff member from Oakland Family Services who explained how their goal is to ensure quality care for all children. They provide resources to Relative-aid providers, i.e. grandparents, aunts, uncles, childcare providers etc. who are providing care to children aged birth to five. Oakland Family Services wants to ensure quality care for all children and to ensure children start school prepared and ready to learn.

Panera Bread has partnered with Early Learning Communities, a United Way for Southeastern Michigan (UWSEM) program, to provide free educational activities and information for children and their parents on the second Saturday of each month during the school year at the Family Fun Days.

From 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on select dates, children will participate in educational crafts and reading activities. While the children play, parents will have the opportunity to learn about the Early Learning Communities program and how to best prepare children for school. The events are open to all ages.
