Because of all of the events that we've been promoting that relate to the Palace (Pistons/Disney/Shock/Circus/Monster Trucks) recently, I decided to check out the Post Bar directly across the street from the Palace in Auburn Hills for a review of their lunch specials.
The Post Bar of Auburn Hills is a wide-open, two story bar and grill. They offer an affordable menu and quick service whether you're stopping by for lunch, or getting dinner before a Pistons game or concert. The Post Bar has excellent weekday specials and I took advantage of the half-off food prices on Mondays after 2p. Other specials include: $5 pizzas and $5 burgers on Tuesdays, $1 sliders on Wednesdays, 1/2 off appetizer Thursdays and cocktail specials on Fridays.
The Post Bar menu choices are fair but not overly impressive. A lot of typical "bar" food. My baked Italian sandwich was good and priced modestly. The atmosphere is spacious and clean. Despite being a bar, The Post Bar does have a great selection for kids meals. The Post Bar has 6 options for less than $5 and offered other non typical selections for kids like BBQ ribs and a yummy-looking baked mac-n-cheese dish.
The Post Bar offers shuttle rides to the Palace for $4 per person for Piston games ($5 for concerts). You'll want to call ahead to see if they offer this service for family events like circus, rodeo or Disney.
I'd much rather take my family to G's up Lapeer road in Lake Orion before a night out at the Palace but, if in a pinch for time, you can't beat the Post Bar for convenience.
