On a Sunday, The Commons is well-known for it's wonderful brunch. They technically don't even begin serving lunch until late afternoon. But, my husband and I needed a somewhat quiet place to go for a business lunch meeting that had good food and a TV so we could take some peeks at the football games (it can't be all work and no play on a Sunday!). After a lot of driving around and deliberation, we settled on The Commons at the Royal Park Hotel.
We went around 1:00 so we missed the brunch rush, which was a good thing. It was quaint, quiet and we found a table right next to the flat screen TV. The staff was AWESOME. They changed the channel on the TV so we could watch the game (or at least they tried - all we could find on directTV was the NFL Network), and they allowed us to order lunch, even though lunch was not beginning for about another 90 minutes or so.
I got a chicken sandwich and my husband had a hamburger. It was priced slightly higher than what you would normally pay for a chicken sandwich, but it was by far the best chicken sandwich I have ever had. It was pure quality. They have a list of toppings you can choose from and I had blue cheese, sauteed mushrooms and sauteed onions. And, they grilled the bun. It was soooo good. Then, instead of fries I got a Mediterranean salad which had kalamata olives, tomatoes, cucumbers and feta in an awesome dressing. I liked it so much I have tried to duplicate it at home. (I've gotten close, but theirs was still better:))
My husband liked his hamburger as well. Additionally, when he ordered a Coke, they asked him if Pepsi was ok, or would he prefer Coke, because they could get him either one. My husband replied that he preferred Coke, so they brought him one of those Coke bottles. I think Coke tastes best when you get it in the bottle! They brought him one after another and offered him more until he finally had to forgo anymore for fear that he would start bouncing off the walls.
Overall the customer service and the food were absolutely excellent. I can't wait to go back. And, it is a much more casual environment than most would think. When you hear "Royal Park Hotel," you immediately think fine dining, dress up, fancy, etc. But in actuality, it was a very comfortable atmosphere as we sat there in jeans and sweaters.
