International Soccer Tournament - Pontiac (All Day)

The International Soccer Tournament to be held at the Silverdome will feature world class football teams from Argentina, Hungary and Mexico to play a championship match. The tournament schedule begins with the teams arriving on February 2 and playing warm-up and practice games at the Silverdome on February 3. The official game schedule starts Saturday, February 4. Monday evening, February 6, will be the championship match. Tickets for each day of the match are $30. Two-day ticket is also available for $50.

Come explore Maybury State Park’s amazing woods and trails from the vantage point of snowshoes or cross country skis. Try your hand at either of these fun, calorie-burning, winter recreational activities right at the park! This Rec 101 program is FREE, courtesy of REI and the Friends of Maybury State Park.

Pre-registration for your preferred time slot – 11am, 12pm, or 1pm for either activity is required. This event is weather dependent and may be canceled due to lack of snow. A Recreation Passport is required for vehicles entering the park. The Recreation Passport has replaced motor vehicle permits for entry into Michigan State Parks and is available when renewing your license plate tabs at the Secretary of State or at any park office.

Detroit Zoo's Love Gone Wild (6:30 PM)

Looking for the wildest way to celebrate Valentine’s Day?  
The Detroit Zoo is hosting Love Gone Wild on February 14, 2012 6:30 – 10 p.m. This memorable evening, open to both singles and sweethearts, is a lighthearted and humorous look into the sexual behavior of animals. These candid and entertaining talks will be hosted by some of the Zoo’s most charismatic animal experts who have first-hand experience with the Zoo’s reproductive successes. Animal care staff will discuss their experiences making matches, overseeing breeding and births and rearing newborns.

NEW - SNOWSHOEING ADVENTURE AT KENSINGTON METRO PARK
Meet at the Kensington Farm Center for a snowshoeing adventure in the park. This is an intergenerational offering that is available to those 55 years and older, and those family and friends that would like to accompany them. Enjoy a guided hike down the trail along the Huron River that will include hot chocolate. Bring your camera and a warm hat for the stroll in nature. There is an entrance fee for the Kensington Metroparks which is $5.00 per vehicle per day or $25.00 annual fee for all 13 Metroparks. If there is no snow, each person will get a coupon for free snowshoeing for an entire day.
