Has anyone else seen those recent Chuck E. Cheese commercials? They're the ones where the moms are so worried about their kids safety that they become over-protective and can't relax when the kids are out to play. One commercial shows a nervous mom standing at the window looking outside while the kids play on the swingset. Another shows a mom wrapping her kids up in bubble wrap before they go for a bike ride.
Oddly enough, the solution message then enters... take your kids to Chuck E. Cheese where they can have some safe fun.
I was shocked when I saw these commercials. I would MUCH rather my kids get some fresh air and exercise outside vs. being cooped up indoors at a germ-infested Chuck E. Cheese, surrounded by video games. Hmmm, let me see, video games or outdoor exercise... I'm not saying I would never take my kids to a Chuck E. Cheese. But, I am saying that the message these commercials were trying to convey is so far off, it's comical. I am a pretty over protective parent, but I know that my kids NEED certain activities as part of their overall development. If parents were to follow the advice of these commercials and opt for a trip to Chuck E. Cheese because they were too afraid to let their outside, then their kids would really be missing out.
