Fire Prevention Week is October 7th through October 13th, 2012. To educate people about fire safety and prevention, several Oakland County and Metro Detroit, Michigan fire departments will hold open houses and demonstrations. Farmington Hills, Michigan Fire Safety Week Event: Fire Prevention Open House

The free event will feature educational demonstrations from Farmington Hills Fire Fighters and fun activities for all ages.  Participants can sit in a fire truck, learn about escape techniques in the Fire Safety House, dress up in fire fighter’s gear, and get their photo taken with Sparky the Fire Dog. Free hot dogs will be provided. Information booths will feature displays from Botsford Hospital, the Farmington Hills Police Department, the City Clerk’s Office, and the Emergency Preparedness Commission. You’ll be able to see up close and personal numerous fire trucks, ambulances, rescue vehicles, helicopter and demonstrations. Enjoy some cider and spend time with your local firefighters.
