There are plenty of great sledding in Oakland County and Metro Detroit for kids of all ages. Oakland County has some of the best sled hills in Michigan. Ice Skating in SE Michigan isn't limited to outdoor backyard ponds or indoor ice rinks. There are plenty of places to ice skate outside across Metro Detroit. Oakland County Parks and Metroparks across Metro Detroit offer ice skating rinks on well-groomed ice surfaces for ice skating, pickup hockey games and ice fishing. Some even offer skate rental and warming stations. Oakland County Parks and Metroparks also offer wide open spaces for cross country skiing.

Metro Detroit, Michigan Winter Festivals
Many Metro Detroit communities celebrate winter living in Michigan with free outdoor festivals celebrating the season throughout the winter months. Some winter fests are for a day and some Oakland County winter festivals last an entire weekend. Many of the winter festivals offer ice carving, ice skating, sledding, fireworks, cross country skiing, ice fishing and special winter fun activities for kids. Motown Winter Blast and Fire and Ice Fest (Downtown Rochester) offer food and entertainment!
