Royal Park Hotel's Lifesize Gingerbread House

November 20, 2010

altThe Salvation Army of Metro Detroit and the Royal Park Hotel in Rochester are teaming up for a sweet partnership to give local families some much-needed assistance this Christmas.

The Royal Park Hotel lifesized gingerbread house in the lobby of the Royal Park Hotel. The Gingerbread House is on display for everyone to see. It is a truly adorable holiday creation and the wonderful aroma fills the air all throughout the lobby.

Ingredients used to create the giant gingerbread house include:
• 220 cups of sugar
• 300 lbs of gingerbread mix
• 110 cups of powdered sugar
• 90 gallons of water
• 240 eggs
• 270 lbs of holiday candy
• 104 whirly lollipops
• 580 hours of dedication

The Royal Park Hotel will sell sponsorship to the 1,500 gingerbread “bricks” used to build the hotel’s breathtaking gingerbread house display, which measures eight feet tall and counts giant candy canes, gingerbread men and women, gum drops, lollipops and buttercream icing among its home décor accents. The bricks may be purchased inside the hotel’s Rochester Sugar Shoppe for a $10 minimum donation to The Salvation Army.  The gingerbread house bricks are just one aspect of the partnership. Red Kettles will also be stationed throughout the hotel, and beginning Dec. 1, proceeds from desserts purchased at both The Brookshire restaurant and Commons Lounge will be donated to The Salvation Army. The hotel’s official holiday card will also feature The Salvation Army shield.
