Lyon Township Winterfest 2012 is set for January 21st, 2012 from 11a-4p at Atchison Park. Lyon Township's Winterfest goes the extra mile when it comes to Winter Michigan fun. They do a fantastic job incorporating ALL kinds of Michigan outdoor fun into one, free family fun event.

• Benefit Dinner for Charity

The Lyon Township Winterfest will offer a variety of events, including sled dog rides by the Mid-Union Sled Haulers (MUSH) - $5 per rider, with a maximum of 300 lbs. per dog sled, ice skating, figure skating demonstrations, 5K snow race, hockey goal shoot off, an igloo building competition, snow golf, GPS treasure hunt, Winter Healthcare Clinic and other kids activities such as the kids fun zone and games, old fashioned jump rope making and a Winter Animal Care Clinic. Non-stop entertainment will be featured throughout the day to include an Elvis impersonator, magician and music provided by a DJ. Special prizes will be awarded to participants throughout the day.  

A “Chili, Soup, Stew and Ragu Cook-Off” will be held where restaurants are invited to enter their very best recipe and win the coveted title and bragging rights for, “Best of the Lyon Township Winterfest 2012.” A panel of area personalities will judge the cook-off, in addition to attendees that can taste test samples for $1 with proceeds going to Active Faith which provides long term and temporary assistance to those who have fallen on difficult times.

The Lyon Township Winterfest will conclude with a family style benefit spaghetti dinner to be held at the River Bank Golf Club beginning at 4:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M., with proceeds also going to Active Faith and the Mid-Union Sled Haulers, (MUSH.) Attendees can win a chance for an overnight stay at the Lilac Tree Suites and Spa on Mackinac Island just by being there.

Parking and entry is FREE at South Lyon Winterfest.
