Benjamin Franklin wrote, in Poor Richard's Almanack, "Early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise."
Going to bed too late may raise the risk of heart ills, new research suggests.  Now a study suggests that Franklin's famous quote might carry more truth than previously thought. It turns out that burning the midnight oil may carry significant heart risks -- even if you're getting a full night of sleep.

Huge study boosts disappointment on multivitamins

CHICAGO – The largest study ever of multivitamin use in older women found the pills did nothing to prevent common cancers or heart disease. The eight-year study in 161,808 postmenopausal women echoes recent disappointing vitamin studies in men.

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common medical disorder that is characterized by chronic abdominal discomfort or pain, bloating and changes in bowel habits. The abdominal pain or cramping can be a dull ache but, for some women, it can be intolerable and without relief. It can also lead to a tired feeling and even mild depression.

Up to 40 percent of women have premenstrual syndrome (PMS) symptoms so severe that they require treatment, according to the National Women's Health Resource Center (NWHRC). Whether you are among that group or experience only mild symptoms with your cycles, here are some tips to help you deal with PMS day to day:

1. Acknowledge PMS as a real condition

While others often attribute a woman's bad mood or food craving to PMS, it is important to realize that PMS is a genuine medical condition. If your symptoms are affecting your life, contact your doctor. There are a number of treatment methods available to you. If your doctor is insensitive or dismisses your concerns about PMS, shop around for another doctor who will take your symptoms seriously.
