Full Day Kindergarten - Oakland County Schools
More Oakland County School Districts are switching to full-day Kindergarten for 2012-2013 due to changes in school budgets along with mandated school curriculum. Some Oakland County, Michigan School Districts have offered full-day Kindergarten for a few years and some Oakland County School Districts are only beginning to set the wheels in motion for full-day. Some Oakland County School Districts are still offering half-day kindergarten options under special circumstances. This list will be updated as we receive more information regarding full-day kindergarten updates.
Full-Day Kindergarten Updates by Oakland County School District:
Berkley Schools Full Day Kindergarten Update - Berkley Schools will offer full-day Kindergarten for 2012-2013. They currently offer a half-day Kindergarten and a full-day option for parents who want it (for a fee). It hasn't been determined yet whether they will waive this fee when they switch to full-day kindergarten or if a half-day Kindergarten will be offered when the switch is made.
Birmingham Public Schools Full Day Kindergarten Update - Birmingham Public Schools will offer full-day Kindergarten starting with the 2012-2013 school year. While (free) full-day programming will be the delivery model, the Board will consider half-day options for interested parents.
Brandon School District Full-Day Kindergarten Update - Brandon School District will offer full-day, every day kindergarten for 2012-2013. Brandon Schools may not offer a half-day option.
Farmington Public Schools Full-Day Kindergarten Update - Farmington Public Schools will offer full-day kindergarten for the 2012-2013 school year. Half-day kindergarten will also be offered if a minimum requirement is met.
Ferndale Public Schools Full-Day Kindergarten Update - Ferndale Public Schools will offer full-day Kindergarten for 2012-2013 and won't be offering a half-day Kindergarten option.
Holly Area Schools Full-Day Kindergarten - Holly Area Schools will be offering full-day and half-day Kindergarten options for 2012-2013.
Huron Valley Schools Full-Day Kindergarten - Huron Valley Schools will offer full-day Kingergarten options for 2012-2013. Huron Valley Schools will also provide half-day Kindergarten if a minimum number of students is met interested in the half-day Kindergarten program.
Lamphere Schools Full-Day Kindergarten - Lamphere Schools will offer full-day Kindergarten for 2012-2013 and does not offer half-day Kindergarten options.
Lake Orion Schools Full-Day Kindergarten - All Day Every Day Kindergarten is available in all Lake Orion elementary schools at no cost. Transportation is provided for all students outside the walk area. Lake Orion is in its 3rd year of providing full-day Kindergarten. Lake Orion Schools does not have a half-day Kindergarten option.
Novi Community Schools Full-Day Kindergarten - Novi Community Schools will offer full-day Kindergarten for 2012-2013 and also offer a half-day Kindergarten option if a minimum number of parents request the option.
Oak Park Schools Full Day Kindergarten - Oak Park Schools has been offering full-day Kindergarten for 8 years. Oak Park Schools does not offer a half-day Kindergarten option.
Oxford Public Schools Full-Day Kindergarten - Oxford Community Schools will offer full-day Kindergarten for 2012-2013. Oxford Community Schools is currently undecided if they will continue half-day kindergarten options.
Rochester Community Schools Full-Day Kindergarten Update - Rochester - Rochester Community Schools will debut a full-day Kindergarten for 2012-2013. Rochester Community Schools currently offers half-day Kindergarten with a cuople of alternate/optional full-day Kindergarten programs.
Royal Oak Neighborhood Schools Full Day Kindergarten Update - On January 12th, 2012 the board approved moving ahead with district-wide all day every day kindergarten for the 2012-2013 school year. They are exploring broadening tuition based pre-school options for families who feel their child may not be ready for full-day kindergarten. Southfield Public Schools Full-Day Kindergarten - Southfield Public Schools will continue to offer full-day Kindergarten for 2012-2013 and have offered the service for the past 4 years. Southfield Public Schools does not offer half-day Kindergarten.
Troy Public Schools Full-Day Kindergarten Update - Troy School District will offer free, Full-Day Kindergarten beginning in the 2012-13 school year. They will offer a half-day Kindergarten option if there is interest and space available.
Walled Lake Consolidated Schools Full-Day Kindergarten - Walled Lake Consolidated Schools offers full-day Kindergarten but no half-day Kindergarten option.
West Bloomfield Schools Full Day Kindergarten Update - West Bloomfield offers full-day, tuition free Kindergarten at each West Bloomfield Schools elementary school. There is currently no half-day Kindergarten option and no plans to change for 2012-2013 and beyond.
Oakland County School Districts continuing to offer half-day Kindergarten options will most likely have half-day Kindergarten at a chosen school based on space availability and interest. Parents may be responsible for transportation if this classes are offered outside of your "home" school.
