Buddy Basketball - Special Needs Sports League

altSpecial needs sports league seeks kids, coaches, volunteer "buddies" and sponsors

Buddy Basketball is a non-competitive, recreational sports league in Oakland County for boys and girls ages 7-13 with special needs. Each player will be paired with a “buddy” to assist as needed. The Buddy Basketball League for special needs children is hosted by the Independence Township Parks and Recreation Department.

The Buddy Basketball special needs league is 6 weeks long. Sessions are 1 hour long and will include drills and game time. Each team will have 10 special needs players and 10 "buddies" on the court to assist the players.

The 2012 Buddy Basketball special needs sports league runs from Feburary 6th through March 19th, 2012. February 20th is a bye week. The games take place at Everest Academy on Clarkston Rd. Buddy Basketball game times will be Mondays at 5:45 or 7p.

Cost is $40 for residents of Independence Township and $50 for non-residents. Buddies fee is $10.

Registration is now ongoing and ends Friday, January 6, 2012.
Starting January 6, a $10 late registration fee will be added, pending space is still available. Must have a minimum of 20 players registered. Must show proof of age by providing birth certificate, if not already previously verified.

Sponsors are needed! Buddy Basketball is a new league for 2012. 4 teams are anticipated for this inaugural league. A $175 Sponsorship gets your logo printed on the front of team shirts. Limited to 1 sponsor per team.
