This has never happened to me, thankfully, but it seems to be more common than I imagined - losing small socks

in the washing machine, and sometimes experiencing a broken down washing machine as a result. From what I've read, many moms claim that an absolute solution to this problem is to place all of the socks in a lingerie bag before washing.
