Miller's Big Red is a great way to spend the day and ranks highly among the local Michigan cider mills in offering a complete cider mill experience. One trip and you'll soon realize that Millers is a year-round fully

functioning farm going way beyond apples and pumpkins. In addition to the cider, Millers offers a Country Store that features pies, breads, jams, jellies, donuts and much more. Millers also boasts a humongous greenhouse filled with various Annuals, Perennials and other bedding plants. U-Pick strawberries, cherries, pumpkins, raspberries and 3 kinds of apples run through their respective seasons (check their website for details). Millers also has its own ice cream parlor and makes their own mackinaw fudge.

While adults can eat themselves silly there is also a lot for younger ones to experience at Millers. I was impressed by how clean and organzied their petting farm facilities were. Goats, bunnies, chickens, peacocks and more dot the petting zoo area in very clean pens and cages. Fall Weekends at Millers are called Fun-O-Rama and feature many kid-friendly, carnival-style rides in addition to pony rides. New to Fun-O-Rama this year is a giant corn maze and "straw mountain."

Millers continues its haunted hayride tradition this fall on weekends from September 29th through October 28th. Haunted Hayrides are great fun and I went to many "back in the day." A great barometer to see if they are kid friendly is to check the websites. If they offer a children's price of admission it's usually an indication that the content isn't too graphic or intense for young riders. Miller's does have a child's admission price so it's safe to assume it would be OK for a daring 9 year old. The easiest haunted rides for the little ones to take are the closest to dusk. The later it gets in the evening, the higher the risk for a rowdier crowd.
