These Gluten Free products are the best I've found
After years of searching, sampling, cooking, tasting, dumping and trial and error, I've finally narrowed down my favorite gluten free products for specific foods. This stuff is expensive, so once you find something you like, you tend to marry it.
brownie and cookie mixes - Betty Crocker; believe it or not, all the GF/CF specialty brands have some huge competition here as Betty Crocker, a typical dessert and non-GF/CF supplier, hit this one out of the park! And, it's cheaper than all the other specialty brands.
bread - Schar Classic White Bread (found at Meijer for $6.19); my son LOVES it.
hamburger buns - same as above: Schar four rolls/buns for $6.19 at Meijer; my son LOVES these as well. Often, I will find the hamburger patty left alone on his plate after he devoured the bun solo.
pasta - Tinkyada; all of it's good - the spaghetti, noodles, etc. This is the one that is closest to the real/wheat thing. Texture and taste are great. My dad and others in our extended family have eaten this pasta (even though they don't have to) and have had no problem with it.
chicken nuggets - Bell & Evans Gluten Free, in one word... awesome! In two words, awesome and expensive. One box will cost you $6.59 at Hollywood or $6.99 at Whole Foods. But honestly, I can't tell the difference. They come in nuggets or tenders. Some stores carry the chicken patties for sandwiches.
pizza flour - Bob's Red Mill; no pizza dough will ever compare to the real thing, but my son enjoys this one. It smells good and has the best texture I've found for a dough mix. I don't care for any of the prepared GF doughs.
pancakes - Maple Grove Farms of Vermont; made with rice milk or almond milk, this one comes in GF and CF. These have the best fluff that comes closest to a typical pancake. Taste and texture are the best with this brand. My mom found it at Kroger.
hotdogs - Applegate Farms; these hotdogs are all natural and free of nitrites and nitrates as well. My son has one every day in his lunch and loves it.
lunchmeat - Applegate Farms also carries lunchmeat that is GF/CF. This was a tough find since most lunchmeats have sodium lactate starter culture.
GF = gluten free
CF = casein free
