Local events that benefit a charitable cause
When families are dealing with their own challenges and struggles, it is difficult to remember that even in these tough times, there are still great causes out there in need. Many organizations have been creative in their fundraising efforts and have put together events and promotions to help raise money. Kids and families can take part in these events and meanwhile donate to a good cause.

Annual Quake on the Lake
July 17-19
Over the past 9 years, “Quake on the Lake” has gained a reputation as one of the premier summertime events in/around Oakland County, Michigan. It has become a “must attend” event for North American Inboard Hydroplane owners and drivers; and since its inception, nearly 300,000 people have witnessed world-record racing performances from the top teams in the business. The event is the proud recipient of 15 American Power Boat Association (APBA) records being set in 5 different racing classes making Pontiac Lake one of the fastest one-mile race courses in the country!
The greatest part of this exciting event remains unchanged. It’s still all about the kids. Not only is the “Quake on the Lake” the perfect summertime event … it continues to be the ONLY charitable race of its kind in the nation. It's a non-profit event which raises money for the Rainbow Connection. www.quakeonthelake.org
