Hys Cider Mill is open on weekends between 11a-6p through mid-November. Luke, the grandson of the original owner, showed me around Hys Cider Mill and demonstrated the brand new cider press and taught me a lot about making Hys Cider Mill cider.
The original press from his grandfather is on display in the lobby. Hys Cider Mill is very old-fashioned and there isn't a lot of entertainment value to making a long trip out there. There aren't any clowns running around with balloon animals or playground equipment. They prefer to focus on the cider, the doughnuts and this year's U-pick apple picking season. Picking dates from 2009 are listed below and the same schedule range should be about the same for upcoming seasons. Call them for specifics. You can also get a taste of Hys Cider Mill without the drive by stopping by local merchants. Papa Joes carries fresh Hys Cider Mill cider and I've also seen their half-gallons for sale at local farmers markets. Hys Cider Mill is also the featured cider at Paint Creek Cider Mill.
