BEVERLY HILLS, MICHIGAN SLEDDING:
Beverly Park Sled Hill

Beverly Park sledding features 2 sides of a sled hill. The east side of the sled hill is a smooth, fast slope. The west side has a tier or a plateau so it's a quick drop that flattens out followed by another steep drop. Teens and pre-teen sledders and snowboarders favor the west side of Beverly Park sled hill. The Beverly Park sled hill has steps making it an easy climb to the top of the hill. You'll have to walk a ways to find the sled hill from the parking lot but the sledding is some of the finest in Metro Detroit! Worth the trip if you live in Southfield, Farmington, Farmington Hills, Bloomfield Hills, Bloomfield, Royal Oak or Birmingham.

Farmington, Michigan Sledding:
Shiawassee Sled Hill
(Shiawasse Road east of Power Road)
The hill is extensive and features a wide, fenced off walking path in the middle of the hill complete with hay bales for sledders to safely climb back to the top for another trip down the sled hill. Thanks to the snow fences adorning the hill and walking path, the sledding is very safe. Speeds aren't too fast but the sledding is fast enough to satisfy most child riders. Sled hill hours at Shiawassee are from 9a-10p during prime sledding conditions. Sledding is free at the sled hill and parking is easy. Just park at the school administration building and bus garage on near the hill off of Shiawassee road. Shiawassee is a great place to take the kids sledding on a snow day if you live in or near Farmington, Farmington Hills, Southfield, Beverly Hills, Franklin, Novi or Plymouth, Michigan.

LAKE ORION / ORION TOWNSHIP, MICHIGAN SLEDDING:
Jesse Decker Park Sled Hill
(west side of Squirrel Road, south of Silverbell Road)
The sled hill at Jesse Decker Park is no-frills - just an open park and a large sledding hill near the baseball fields. It's quite a walk from the parking lot to the sled hill but the Decker Park sled hills lightning fast! The sled hill has a dip at the bottom allowing for sledders to get "plenty of air" and cause more than few wipeouts. Sledding is a free-for-all affair at with no separate walkways and might not be the ideal place to take a young child sledding. Older kids with a need for speed will enjoy the sledding though. Worth the trip if you live in Oxford, Leonard, Clarkston, Auburn Hills, Rochester or Rochester Hills.

MADISON HEIGHTS, MICHIGAN SLEDDING:
Civic Center Park Sled Hill

Every wonder where the Metro Detroit TV news crews go to film the sledding on snow days in Michigan? Usually they head to Civic Center Park to film the sledders at the giant hill. Sledding at Civic Center park is popular on snow days. The sled hill is plenty steep and widely accessible for large groupos. Parking is close to the hill and there's a nice walk up section on the side of the hill. Close proximity bathrooms is an added bonus. Worth the trip if you live in Southfield, Clawson, Berkley, Hazel Park, Ferndale, Troy, Rochester, Rochester Hills, Farmington or Farmington Hills.

OAKLAND, MICHIGAN SLEDDING:
Lost Lake Nature Park Sled Hill

Lost Lake features the best sledding in Oakland County, and is easily a top 3 Metro Detroit sled hill. Lost Lake sled hill has a warming shelter, safe walkway up the hill, seating areas and picnic tables. You can even rent the shelter and host sledding parties! Lost Lake Nature Park has a live-in caretaker so the sled hill is well-maintained. The Oakland County sledding fun isn't limited to daylight hours, they hosted night-time sledding (call for days/times) thanks to tree top lamp towers that light up the hill at night. Lost Lake also has a separate sled hill for smaller children. The sledding a Lost Lake is fast, smooth and highly recommended! Worth the trip if you live in Leonard, Rochester, Rochester Hills, Clarkston, Oxford, Lake Orion or Orion Township.

ROCHESTER HILLS, MICHIGAN SLEDDING:
Bloomer Park Sled Hill
(375 John R. Road, Rochester Hills, Michigan 48309)
There are 3 sledding runs at Bloomer Park on the large sled hill with walkways between each hill for kids to climb after their run. On the weekends, there's usually a park attendent parked nearby making sure conditions are OK for sledding. The sled hills are steep enough for fast sledding and each hill is divided by a walkway that makes it safe for even young riders. Bloomer Park is only open Thursday through Sundays in the winter. When sledding conditions are ideal, there is usually a park attendant at the entrance. Admission is $5. Worth the trip if you live in Oakland Twp, Troy, Rochester, Auburn Hills or the west side of Macomb County.

ROCHESTER HILLS, MICHIGAN SLEDDING:
Borden Park Sled Hills
(east side of John R Rd between Hamlin Rd and Auburn Rd, Rochester Hills, MI)
The high berms or banks that surround Borden Park are quite popular and make ideal sled hills for young sledding enthusiasts. Because the berms surround most of the park, the sledding is wide open and never too crowded. The sled hills aren't terribly steep so it's perfect for children. It's also ideal for learning to snowboard. Be prepared for a long walk from the parking lot to the ideal sledding spots.

WATERFORD, MICHIGAN SLEDDING:
Waterford Oaks County Park Sled Hill

Waterford Oaks doesn't have the fastest or steepest sled hill in Metro Detroit, but what Waterford Oaks sled hill lacks in speed, it makes up for in convenience. The parking is CLOSE to the sledding fun and the durable walkways make it safe and easy to trek up the 320 foot long x 27 foot high Oakland County sledding hill. Worth the trip if you live in Auburn Hills, Waterford Twp, Troy, Bloomfield, Whilte Lake, South Lyon. The 27-foot high and 325-foot long sledding hill is open daily, weather permitting, from sunrise to sunset or as posted at the gate.
