I'm sure I am one of the last to venture out to Great Lakes Crossing...actually, I've been to Great Lakes Crossing before, but never really explored around much more than running in and out, just to get something I needed.
This time around, my husband and I deliberately went to Great Lakes Crossing to make a family fun event of it. We didn't have all day, but we did have time to head over to the Bass Pro shop, which holds family fun events frequently on the weekends, especially during the holiday seasons (Easter Bunny visits, Santa photos, crafts, etc). Even without the events, there is still a lot to do...play some checkers, watch the ducks in the indoor river, view the big fish in the huge aquarium, etc. Be sure to check out the OCM calendar to find events taking place at the Bass Pro store.
Next, we went to the play area so the kids could play on all the "foods" and run around in their socks on the spongy carpet. The "foods" area is always a hit with kids. It's conveniently located in the food court so parents can get a bite to eat while the kids play.
After the kids were done jumping around on the "food", they took a spin on the carousel and we headed home. Jeepers might have been fun as well, but it was really crowded and we were running out of time. Jeepers is an indoor small scale amusement park. Attractions include kiddie rides and an arcarde with video and redemption games. Jeepers! is also a popular location for children's birthday parties. They serve food as well.
