Fuddruckers - Bloomfield Hills Review

July 11, 2009

altI had been to Fuddruckers once when I was younger and either I didn't recall it correctly, or it was different back then, but I was left with an impression that it was more like a fast food establishment.

I went again for the first time in a long time, and I was totally impressed.

When you first enter Fuddruckers, you have the option to go self serve or full serve. Self serve means you go to the counter, place your order, have a seat and wait for you beeper to go off letting you know your order is ready, and then take your Fuddruckers burger to the toppings bar to prepare it exactly how you'd like. Full serve means you have a seat and get waited on by the Fuddruckers wait staff.  I personally prefer the self serve. It's fun to hit the burger bar and decide what to put on my burger.  Some of the toppings include lettuce, tomato, jalapenos, banana peppers, salsa, BBQ sauce, hot cheese sauce, etc. It's all fresh and good.

When ordering at Fuddruckers, you can choose from a burger (beef, turkey, buffalo, or veggie) or a chicken sandwich, fish, salad, and much more.  What is very impressive was that they grind the meat fresh every day and they bake their own bread/buns daily.  I honestly was not expecting that.  What burger joint makes their own buns? Also, the burgers were Huge.  You can choose from 1/3 lb., 1/2 lb., 2/3 lb., and a whole pounder. I did not order fries or any other side - all I got was a buffalo burger and I could barely finish it.  I ordered it with grilled onions and it was really good.

Fuddruckers also has an awesome sundae and ice cream station. Fuddruckers isn't a help yourself type thing and it isn't manned when we checked it out, but a staff member quickly asked us if we wanted anything. Fuddruckers desserts look really good, but I knew I wasn't going to have any room for dessert

The Fuddruckers atmosphere is comfortable and fun. It's filled with memorabilia. Fuddruckers is casual and very family friendly.  I did not have my kids with me.  But, if we did, we would have felt totally at ease with them fitting right in, and not at all concerned about them making a scene or anything.
