At what age is it ok to leave kids home alone?
My kids sometimes get tired of me dragging them around from store to store so I can get my errands done. My 7-year-old son has even told me to go by myself and that he would just wait at home. I laugh and tell him I can't do that. To help convince him, (since he somehow seems to think he would be just fine on his own
) I tell him the police would put me in jail if I left him and his sister all by themselves.

Will American Idol survive?
With the premier of Season 9 of American Idol comes mixed feelings. It is the first time we will experience the show without Paula Abdul. I still have not gotten over her not being on the show. BIG mistake. Also, this season marks the last season we will see Simon Cowell on the show. Cowell, 50, is leaving to help Fox launch an American version of X-Factor with Cowell as executive producer and judge in 2011, and word has it, he's signing Paula Abdul to judge with him. Basically, Simon is American Idol. He's the show. Without him, they've got nothing. So, I hesitantly watched the first episode of Season 9, not knowing how I would feel.
"Smoking or non?" A phrase of the past?
It's been debated for years, and today a statewide smoking ban passed in the Michigan Senate. The ban would take effect in May 2010. It applies to all bars, restaurants and work places, except for the Detroit casinos, cigar bars, tobacco specialty stores, home offices and motor vehicles.
Granholm has said she will sign the bill, and with her signature, Michigan would become the 38th state to institute such a ban.

I don't get it. I thought preventive medicine saved money. I have not had a mammogram yet, but have always heard about how women who have done self exams did not find lumps that were detected via a mammogram. So why would anyone in their right mind say that women should wait longer to get one? Early detection is key. It's the only way to
