Some may think that it stinks that the restaurants are giving us smaller portions and charging the same prices. But after thinking about this one, I think it's not such a bad thing. Aren't we all doing what we can to stay afloat? I know of people who are dropping their land lines and using just cell phones so they can save on the monthly fee. Others have stopped buying everything organic so the grocery bills aren't so high. A friend of mine turned her furnace down 2 degrees and tells her kids to bundle up! What makes the businesses that surround us any different?
They are trying to survive as well, and if we are cutting back and not dining out as much, they need to make adjustments in order to stay open. I would much rather see them cut portions and stay open, than put out cheaper quality food and end up shutting down because the food stinks. Finally, I can honestly say that there are many times where I bring home a doggy bag, or stuff myself eating everything on my plate even when I'm full because it's so good. Do we really need those huge restaurant-sized portions anyway? Yes, it would be great if we could see the cost savings as well, but hopefully this is a temporary fix and these restaurants will stick around long enough to "pay us back" when the economy improves!
