Arts, Beats and Eats Launches Autism Initiative

This year Ford Arts, Beats & Eats will be teaming up with local autism initiatives Autism Alliance of Michigan and Autism Speaks. Select families will be given a unique experience and an all-access pass to the festival.

I spoke with Tom Riopelle of Autism Speaks to find out more.

Oakland County Moms: Tell us about the “Speaking Up For Those With Autism” initiative at this year’s Arts, Beats and Eats.

Tom Riopelle of Autism Speaks: We are very excited to be partnering with Autism Alliance of Michigan and Arts, Beats, and Eats to offer this opportunity for families in Michigan affected by Autism to enjoy the event. We will have two days, Saturday Sept 1st and Monday Sept. 3rd where the families will get free early access to the Arts Beats and Eats, free carnival Rides, lunch, and other activities.

Oakland County Moms: How are you going to reach out families to let them know about the new experience at Arts, Beats and Eats?

Tom Riopelle of Autism Speaks: I have attached a copy of the request form that you send out. It has all of the details. Click here for request form for special access.

Oakland County Moms: Will there be informational booths set up at the event related to autism or is this strictly a fun event for families and ASD children?

Tim Riopelle of Autism Speaks: Our goal is for this to be a fun event for the entire family but we will have an Information booth and will be distributing updated information on the insurance reform legislation.

A number of Service Providers will be providing volunteers to help insure a good experience for all of the Families attending. We will have their information in the booth as well.
