Bishop Foley Summer Camps 2018 info for academic, drama, and athletic summer camps for students in grades 4th-12th. Sports camps include baseball, boys basketball, girls basketball, football, girls soccer, boys soccer, co-ed soccer, girls volleyball and more. Bishop Foley also has academic camps, and drama camps.

Bishop Foley Summer Camps 2018 – Academic Camps

How to Succeed in High School – This class is designed for incoming BFC freshmen. Students will receive a Chromebook and review digital texts, syllabi, sample quizzes, tests, study techniques and time management. Students are required to begin their summer reading assignment, as well as organize their notebooks for their freshmen classes. The teachers of this class maintain contact with the student during their first semester at Foley.
Session 1 – Grade 9 – June 18-22, 8a-10:30a
Session 2 – Grade 9 – August 6-10, 8-10:30a

Drama Camp – This program is open to everyone interested in drama. No experience necessary. Participants will learn basic stage directions, acting techniques, breathing exercises, and stage combat. Plus, they will perform a short skit with fellow actors. It is a great way to become more comfortable with public speaking. This camp will also provide an opportunity to meet other individuals interested in drama.

Bishop Foley Summer Camps – Athletic Camps

Boys Baseball Camp – On the first day the coaching staff will take the campers through a showcase and test their skills in a variety of areas. Training will transition on day two as staff will review skills to help each individual develop and improve their game. The primary focus of this camp will be focusing on the fundamentals of defense, pitching, base running, and hitting. Participants will get a firsthand look at how BFC players approach each aspect of their position and their approach at the plate. The atmosphere will be fun and educational.

Grades – 4 – 9 – June 25-28 – 9a–Noon

Boys Basketball Camp – The camp includes multiple individual contents, three-on-three tournaments, and games. The first day will focus on measuring vertical, quickness, speed, and strength. Participants will have games and drills designed to improve their shooting, passing, ball handling, defense and overall understanding of the game. Individuals will also have the opportunity to experience Noahlytics, the latest in shooting technology. (BFC was the first school in the state of Michigan to have this installed.) Coach Stefani and varsity players will lead the training. Parents are welcome to join their sons to assist staff/players with coaching and refereeing. The program works to form relationships with the players and parents.

Bring water and wear appropriate clothing/footwear. Cost includes BFC summer camp shirt, NBA combine print-out, lunch each day, and state-of-the-art Noahlytics Shot Analysis. (Foley is the first program in the state of Michigan to offer this technology!)

Girls Basketball Camp – The basketball camp will focus on teaching offensive and defensive concepts of the game, plus the fundamentals that will take players to the next level. Coach Jasper Ocampo is a 1992 graduate of Bishop Foley Catholic. He has over 20 years experience of playing and coaching the game of  basketball, including playing professionally overseas. He has coached both boys and girls and is currently the Varsity Girls Basketball coach for the Ventures. The key goal for this camp is for every participant to become a better basketball player through instruction, games, and contests. Please bring water and wear appropriate athletic clothing/shoes.

Football Camp (Boys) – Coach Barnes has worked with the Detroit Lions’ youth programs for several years. This camp will utilize the knowledge from that program to develop each individual and teach team concepts. Players will get instruction based on specific positions, before moving into a team environment. Coach Barnes also focuses on teaching athletes the importance of safety through applying the Heads Up Tackling Approach. Please bring water, sunscreen, and cleats or good running shoes.

Team Camp – Grades 9-12 – Dates – June 11-13, 9a-Noon

Quarterback/Wide Receiver Skill Academy – Grades – 3-9 – July 13, 9a – Noon – Complimentary

Soccer (Boys) – This camp will focus on fundamentals, tactics, and technical skills. All levels will be challenged, regardless if they are a first-timer or experienced player. Participants will compete in a small-sided and full 11 v 11 game scenarios. A complete fitness and training program is designed for players to get prepared to compete at the varsity level, which includes nutrition, proper stretching, and join care. Coach Cross is a licensed and certified and will be joined by assistant coaches and former players. Please bring water, sunscreen, and cleats or good running shoes.

Grades – 9 – 12 – July 23-26 – 5p-7p located on game field)

Soccer (Co-Ed) – This camp will focus on the fundamentals. Basic skills and techniques will be presented. Participants will be engaged in a variety of drills and activities to build their soccer skills. Please bring water and wear proper soccer attire.

Grades – 5 – 8 – June 19-21, 5p- 7p

Soccer (Girls) – This camp will focus on fundamentals, tactics, and technical skills. All levels will be challenged. Physical fitness and training practices will prepare players for the rigors of the game. A variety of drills and techniques will challenge a wide range of abilities. Please bring water and wear proper soccer attire.

Grades – 9 – 12 – June 19-21, 7p-9p

Volleyball (Girls) – Both camps are designed for participants to improve skill level, enhance player development, and build confidence. It is geared towards players of all levels that want to work on their skill set and improve their volleyball knowledge in preparation for game season. Coach Gignac and her staff will lead the training for this camp.

The Youth Skills Camp is designed for young athletes. Specifically those who are just getting started and want to learn more about volleyball techniques.

The camp for grades 7-9 is designed to give participants a fun and challenging experience. The focus is on all aspects of volleyball. Training groups are established based on each individual’s skill level. Please bring water and wear appropriate athletic clothing/footwear. Cost includes lunch.
