Red Oaks Nature Center Earth Day 2021 – Restore the Earth – at Red Oaks Nature Center 248-585-0100. To celebrate Earth day, learn about restoration efforts and some simple strategies for green living. Take home a craft to help keep you thinking of going green. $5/person. Red Oaks Nature Center Astro Evening – Telescope eyepiece sharing is not possible, so instead we’ll share close-up views of the moon using club members’ telescopes, video cameras, and screen monitors. See some great views and learn fun facts about the night sky. Bring a camp chair or blanket to sit on. Suitable for all ages. No on-site registration available. $4/person. Red Oaks Nature Center Whose Nest is Best – Nests come in all shapes, sizes and materials. Examine nests and eggs to learn about their inhabitants and the science behind egg shapes and sizes. Then, take a hands-on building challenge to create a nest using the same materials as our friends with beaks. Create or take home a bird craft kit. $5/person. Pre-registration with payment required. Red Oaks Nature Center Maple Magic – Maple syrup is an icon of our region. Learn to identify maple trees, take a hike to tap a tree and taste the sap. We will teach you the tools, tips and methods needed to make your own batch of maple syrup at home. Taste some sweet maple treats and take home maple-based recipes. Some tasty treats may be made in factories that process nut products. This program is suitable for all ages. Cost: $7/person. Call 248-858-0916 weekdays to register.
