Holly Memorial Day Ceremony – A crowd of several thousand veterans, families, friends and the general public are expected to attend a Memorial Day Ceremony honoring deceased veterans interred at the Great Lakes National Cemetery. There will be patriotic music. The VFW State Honor Guard will present the colors and perform a rifle salute during the ceremony. Taps will also be played. Those planning on attending should arrive at the locations well before the scheduled start times. 8a at Highland Cemetery, 8:30a at Highland Veterans Memorial Park, and 9a at West Highland Cemetery. Hazel Park Memorial Day Ceremony and Parade – Join the City of Hazel park on Memorial Day for a ceremony starting at 9a at City Hall on John R and Nine Mile Road. The ceremony will be followed by a parade that marches from Hazel Park Jr High to Green Acres Park. Hosted by the City of Hazel Park.
Lake Orion Memorial Day Ceremony – Lake Orion will host brief ceremonies at 9a at Eastlawn Cemetery (37 E Flint Road Lake Orion) and at 10a in Downtown Lake Orion at Children’s Park (201 S Broadway St #335, Lake Orion, MI 48362). A parade will be held in Downtown Lake Orion at Flint St & Broadway at 11a. If you would like to participate in the parade, please contact Tom Allport at 248-202-6198. Rochester Hills Memorial Day – a Memorial Day Ceremony at Veteran’s Memorial Pointe (1015 S Livernois Rd, Rochester Hills, MI). Annual Rochester Hills Memorial Day Ceremony hosted by the City of Rochester Hills.
Royal Oak Memorial Day Parade – The parade will start at Main Street & Lincoln and will proceed north to Second Street The parade has been held on Memorial Day for several decades as a respectful tribute to our veterans – past and present. South Lyon Memorial Day Parade – Organized by VFW Post 2502. The parade launches at 9a from Bartlett Elementary and makes its way down 10 Mile through downtown. The parade ends in the South Lyon Cemetery with a ceremony that commemorates the contributions and sacrifices of all veterans. Organized by South Lyon VFW Post 1224.
Birmingham Memorial Day Events – The annual observance of Memorial Day in Shain Park includes addresses by the Mayor and State Representative, patriotic music, and an introduction of veterans.
