City Chicken Recipe

City Chicken recipe – recipe for my mom’s famous City Chicken using boneless pork chops, garlic powder, olive oil, an egg, milk, seasoned bread crumbs, and salt and pepper.

My mom used to make City Chicken for the family when I was younger. I don’t know why, but I always thought it was a bit of a treat. I don’t know why I waited for so long to try this recipe for my kids but I finally got around to it. I tinkered with the recipe my mom gave me and my City Chicken turned out really well.

City Chicken Recipe Ingredients

  • 2 lb. of boneless pork chops
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • garlic powder
  • olive oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • twelve 4-5 inch skewers
  • Italian seasoned bread crumbs

City Chicken Recipe Cooking Directions

Cut the boneless pork chops into 1 inch cubes. Marinate in olive oil, salt, black pepper and garlic powder over night. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Skewer 5 cubes of pork onto each stick. Mix egg and milk. Dip skewers in egg and milk mixture and then press into bread crumbs to coat, holding each end of the stick for leverage. Pour olive oil from marinade into fry pan and heat. Cook skewered pork in fry pan about 3 minutes on each side to brown. Coat glass baking dish with thin drizzle of olive oil. Place skewered pork into baking dish, cover with foil, and cook for about 20 minutes. Makes 12 skewers of city chicken.

Note: I did not have the typical 4-in sticks on hand so I just cut some shishkebob sticks in half and it worked just fine.
