Went for an off-the-beaten path motorcycle ride recently and stumbled across this precious gem that had me putting my vegetarian diet aside for the day. Country Smoke House Southern Style Outdoor BBQ.

Country Smoke House is located off M-53 in Almont. Yes, it’s far from Oakland County, Michigan but worth the drive if you’re a fan of smoked meats, burgers, and Diners Drive-Ins and Dives places to eat.
Country Smoke House is associated with the butcher shop there and is an outside “shed” restaurant with a smoker. The Country Smoke House BBQ Almont menu offers a Pulled Pork Sandwich on a FRESHLY baked specialty, Seasoned Beef Brisket, Slow roasted Barbequed St Louis Ribs, Southern Grilled 1/2 Chickens, Smoked Turkey Drumsticks, SW Chicken Wrap with Texas Caviar, Buffalo Burgers, and much more. They’re constantly adding menu items and expanding.
Everything is made using their own recipes. There are some optional sides such as potato salad (one of the best), baked beans, Texas Caviar (corn, beans, peppers in a cilantro vinaigrette), chips, etc….When your food is ready, you can choose to top it with one of the five different sauces that are available.
Finally! A roadside place in Michigan that serves BBQ that you’d find in the hills and roadsides in North Carolina or Texas! They’ve recently added their Country Smokehouse Booze Barn that serves beers and cocktails!
This roadside bbq joint has decent prices for fresh hot food you can take home or eat at the outdoor picnic tables.
The butcher shop sells sauces, fresh meats and fish, packaged frozen meats and fish, salsas, etc. Country Smoke House Almont is more than a meat market or butcher… it’s quickly becoming an attraction and a must-stop place if you’re a metro Detroiter heading “up to the thumb” for vacation or… a leisurely motorcycle ride!
