Cranbrook Institute of Science Virtual Learning Resources

Our friends at the Cranbrook Institute of Science have opened up their educational resources online with content from Institute scientists and teachers to help educate, entertain, and inform during Covid-19 shutdown.

The Cranbrook Institute of Science will re-open to the public when it is deemed safe to do so. Until then, these virtual guided tours of Institute exhibits are the next best thing. Your child can even contact the CIS to ask science-related questions.

Cranbrook Institute of Science Virtual Learning Resources

Cranbrook Institute scientists and educators are sharing their expertise across a variety of subjects through museum’s website and social media platforms. New videos are being added to their YouTube Page. Subjects of the videos include or will soon include Anthropology, Astronomy, Earth Science, Engineering, Life Science, and more.

In addition to the videos, they’ve created a FREE Cranbrook Institute of Science Virtual Learning Resources page that includes star charts, DIY geological map projects, and more. The page even features links to external resources and at-home learning projects from other educators.

The CIS is also starting ramp up daily content on their various social media platforms – CIS Facebook Page and CIS on Instagram

Again, nothing beats the actual Cranbrook Institute of Science experience – but I really appreciate the effort of entertaining and educating during this difficult time. I’m looking forward to returning to the CIS to check out their Robot Revolution exhibit which runs through July 3. Hopefully, some of the new online content will feature the display.
