Eyebrow Microblading procedure review, pics, and video, and what to expect. I recently had the new Eyebrow Microblading procedure done. Eyebrow Microblading is the process of filling in and shaping eyebrows by gently etching new “hairs” into the skin, giving brows a very realistic and natural look. The Eyebrow Microblading procedure is great for those that like the fuller, bolder eyebrow look that’s in right now, those who feel that their brows are thinning with age and looking too sparse, and for those with little to no eyebrows due to cancer treatments, aging, or over-tweezing. Eyebrow Microblading is a semi-permanent procedure that lasts about 1 year.

I had my eyebrows microbladed recently since I have very few hairs on the second half of my eyebrows, i.e. from the middle of the brow down to the tail end at my temples. I heard the bold brow look is in, so why not, right? I went through Hair Reflections Salon in Petoskey, MI. I know Carrie, the technician, and she is highly qualified with above and beyond training as well as plenty of experience, so I trusted her to do the procedure.
The Eyebrow Microblading procedure took about 3 hours and follow-ups are required to complete it. When thinking about a procedure like this, it helps to have some details about what to expect. I’ve outlined below the Eyebrow Microblading process as I experienced it at my location, as well as what happens post Microblading, and I’ve also included a video on the microblading process…

The eyebrow microblading process begins with cleaning and prepping the area to be worked on. My stylist spent about 45 minutes alone just marking and mapping the new eyebrow patterns. It’s an involved process because you want to be sure that everything has the perfect symmetry as well as the proper arch, tail, length, and start and end points. The stylist cleans up any strays as well so that the finished eyebrows have a clean, freshly tweezed look.

After the mapping is completed, the stylist colors in the outline with a pencil to give you an idea of what the finished look will be. Then, a numbing cream with lidocaine is applied and allowed to sit for 30 minutes to activate.
The next step of the Eyebrow Microblading process is the actual etching of the hairs into the skin with hair like strokes to fill in the eyebrows. The technician will weave hairs and insert new hairs into the skin using a hand tool with ultra fine needles, and etching into only the top layer of the dermis with this eyebrow microblading pen. The hairs are dyed to match, and fit in well with any existing hairs. You should feel little to no pain during this part of the process… very tolerable.
After the Procedure
When this part of the Eyebrow Microblading procedure is completed, you will experience some redness and swelling, and the color will appear very dark. The brows take about 7-14 days to fully heal, and over about one month’s time, the color will fade by up to 40%. Your eyebrows may feel itchy, they may scab, and you will need to apply an ointment to help the healing process. It’s all quite simple with barely any post procedure “maintenance.”
You will go back for a 2nd session in 4-6 weeks after the first session for touchups. After that, another follow up in about 8 months, and your Eyebrow Microblading will last for a year plus!
I’m very happy with my brows…it’s a totally different look, and so cool that it’s semi-permanent…lasting long enough, but something I can still change up if I want to! Microblading stylists recommend a color boost once each year to keep your brows looking their best.
