Granite City Troy Review

Granite City Troy restaurant review, pics, menu info, and hours info. Granite City in Troy is a casual brewery located off Big Beaver road between Crooks and Livernois. I went to Granite City in Troy recently on a Wednesday night. To give you an idea of how popular Granite City is… the place is very large, yet there was about a 15-minute on a Wednesday night, and it wasn’t even happy hour.

The place was packed and parking was difficult. They share a lot with the large PNC corporate office building, and for some odd reason, those PNC folks work late into the night and take up a lot of parking spaces!

And, getting there is a bit difficult as well. If you’re driving along Big Beaver road, you can see Granite City right off the side of the road, but you can’t get to it because there’s no driveway entrance off of Big Beaver. I learned this the hard way and had to do a couple more Michigan lefts to get back around. You’ll need to turn down the small side street just west of the restaurant and enter the large lot shared by all the buildings there (including Ruth’s Chris).

All that aside, Granite City has a pretty hip interior. The dining area is large and offers plenty of seating at booths and tables. There is also a decent sized bar. It’s all very warm and inviting, a great hangout and fun place to meet up with friends, have a date night, or take the kids.

Granite City offers up some good food. They even have a separate Gluten Free menu. I ordered the Ponzu Glazed Salmon with sticky rice and stir-fried vegetables. It was very good. Other items on the menu include craft beers and a full drinks menu, appetizers, flatbreads, soups, salads, main entrees such as meatloaf, ribs, jumbo sea scallops, salmon, steaks, chicken, pasta, burgers, sandwiches, desserts… Everything sounds delicious and if I had to describe the overall menu, I’d say it is brewery fare prepared with an upscale twist…. e.g. the ribs description reads – “4-hour Broad Axe Stout–braised tender bison short ribs served over horseradish mashed potatoes and broccolini, topped with Broad Axe Stout demiglace”; and the jumbo sea scallops are written as “Pan-seared jumbo sea scallops served on a bed of creamy wild mushroom and asparagus risotto and a balsamic beurre blanc.” Granite City does a great job offering quality food with a touch of elegance, in a comfortable, casual atmosphere.

Granite City also offers a Sunday Brunch, private dining area for your event, happy hour, and online reservations. Granite City has Metro Detroit locations in Troy, Northville and Detroit.
