Kate Middleton Hypnobirthing

The Benefits of Hypnobirthing Receive Royal Attention – Kate Middleton hypnobirthing is receiving worldwide attention and the peaceful birthing technique (source) is receiving plenty of new interest.

I sought hypnobirthing 9 years ago as a peaceful, all-natural way to deliver my second child, my daughter, after a difficult and painful childbirth experience with my first-born son. I delivered both children free of pain medication (not a religious rant here, I just don’t care for needles) and wanted a way to deliver my daughter more peacefully and painlessly.

Hynobirthing is a deep body relaxation technique that prevents muscles from tensing through a series of breathing, visualization and relaxation techniques. The relaxation techniques through hypnobirthing are often learned subconsciously through listening to hypnosis tapes (and a trained therapist) to achieve a state of complete relaxation combined with muscle control. If done correctly, hypnobirthing can provide a tranquil, virtually pain-free birthing experience. I’m proud to say that hypnobirthing works! I was shocked at how well the birth process worked during the birth of my daughter.

The benefits of hypnobirthing extended well past the birth of my daughter. I’ve been able to use and recall hypnobirthing techniques used years ago in stress or painful situations to this day. I’ve had an EMG procedure and a surgery procedure where I’ve been able to use hypnobirthing to ease the stress of the medical procedures. Hypnobirthing promotes quick recovery through the body and mind’s ability to heal. Because no drugs or medications are needed, recovery time is minimal.

I’m still amazed that years later hypnobirthing seems to take a backseat to other birthing procedures such as Water Birth (Waterbirthing) or the latest pain meds. Hypnobirthing, in many circles, is still looked upon as “strange” or “new age.” A friend of mine who was considering hypnobirthing even ditched her interest in hypnobirthing after her husband declared hypnobirthing suspicious or that it was some sort of a scam that’s “too good to be true.”

I find it strange that people can put so much faith in the powers of drugs and medication while completely dismissing the power of their own minds and bodies.

I’m hoping that the recent royal attention Kate Middleton hypnobirthing has given to the technique extends to new moms-to-be considering all-natural, virtually pain-free childbirth options.

The bottom line is that I am so happy to have this skill. I think I will have it for a lifetime. I hope there won’t be many opportunities to use it, but it is nice to have. So, if you have hypnobirthed as well, you should know you can still use this skill in many areas. If you are pregnant, I highly recommend learning how to hypnobirth. It’s a valuable skill that you will be able to use for a lifetime.

New moms-to-be in Oakland County and Metro Detroit can find certified hypnotherapists providing hypnobirthing classes like I did – via the website www.hypnobirthing.com.
