Maple Moon Winery Petoskey

Maple Moon Winery Petoskey review, pics, hours, and info for Maple Moon Winery on Atkins Rd just 2 miles East of Downtown Petoskey.

Maple Moon winery is located in Petoskey, Michigan. It’s no secret that wine is a passion of mine and I have always enjoyed visiting wineries since they each have unique twists. You can always find great, unique wines at wineries that you will never even come close to in stores.

Maple Moon Winery Petoskey Pics

I’ve been to Oregon wineries with my childhood bestie. Those were the first that I’ve visited and I remember thinking how cool it was to find a wine that had an essence of green bell pepper. Considering that I grew up with homemade wines crafted by my dad who came here from Italy, I still thought this green pepper wine was pretty fantastic.

We travel to Petoskey very often and I have come to realize that it is a big winery town. I am slowly but surely making my rounds and visiting each of the different wineries. My first stop was at Maple Moon winery.

Maple Moon winery is a family owned business that opened in 2012 at first producing maple syrup from their approximately 5,000 taps. In four short years, it has become America’s first and only maple winery. Yes, you heard right, they make wine from maple syrup!

The wines offered at Maple Moon winery are incredible. I have truly found some favorites. Their selection includes some wines made with fruits in addition to those made with maple syrup. The maple syrup wines are on the sweeter side and have hints of blackberry, blueberry, peach and more. They also offer hard ciders as well as a better than port style maple wine with bourbon characteristics and a long lasting maple finish, with 18% alcohol.

Wine tasting at Maple Moon winery Petoskey allows guests to enjoy a flight of five samples and you get to keep a glass. After trying five of the wines, I honestly could not pick a favorite. They were all impressively good. The staff was super kind and chatted with us during the tasting, telling us more about their story and unique wines. We’ll definitely be going back on our next trip as we would love to experience the great views, wines, and maple products again.

The tasting room is very cozy. The staff is super kind. You get five 1-oz pours during a tasting and you get to keep the glass as a keepsake!

The shop carries jams, salsas, and syrups including a delicious bourbon syrup! And, in February, they celebrate their anniversary each year with a “wineshoeing” event that tours their grounds and ends with a pot of chili.

The winery also has an online store.
