The history of Moose Jaw is every bit as interesting as the food, maybe even more so. It was built in 1946 and known as Round Lake Bar & Larks Lake Bar. A lot has changed with the building since then but the current owners left some historical reminders of the old days – namely the original stripper pole holder near the fireplace! There are no strippers now, just a boisterous restaurant and bar that serves a wide array of menu items and fully-loaded drinks.
Moose Jaw Junction serves sandwiches, burgers, Mexican food, seafood and more on a vast, affordable menu. Portions are plentiful and the drinks are STRONG. I’d classify the food as slightly generic but the portions and the festive atmosphere more than make up for it. It is extremely popular with the locals so the restaurant is often full and extremely lively. The staff is beyond kind and definitely add to the boisterous surroundings. If you’re familiar, it kind of reminds me of “down state” favorites Shamrock Pub in Utica or Shelby Township’s Stony Creek Roadhouse on 26 Mile Rd.
The restaurant offers daily specials and is relatively family affordable. The all-you-can-eat Friday Fish Fry is extremely popular. Sure, Moose Jaw Junction is a family-friendly restaurant, but it’s also a bar with a fun crowd and awesome cocktails.
