The parks system needs lifeguards, grill room and concessions staff, maintenance workers, park leaders, contact station workers and
more to provide customer service to its 2 million annual visitors. They begin accepting applications for summer employment on 2/3/20. Positions pay starting at $9.85 per hour. Lifeguard positions pay more.

In addition to Oakland County Parks, many communities are seeing the need for more Oakland County Lifeguard jobs. A couple of years back, I spoke to Troy Assistant to the City Manager Kelly Molinar who used to manage aquatic programs for the Troy Communty Center and the Troy Aquatic Center about the lifeguard shortages. While Molinar said Troy doesn’t have the same urgency for lifeguards that Oakland County Parks does, she concurred that there is a need to recruit the high schools earlier and earlier each season to fill the number required by Troy Recreation and other Oakland County parks and rec departments that require lifeguards to staff pools.
