Oakland Schools Technical Summer Camps – Skilled trades and technical career education day camp experiences in Pontiac, Clarkston, Royal Oak, and Wixom for 8th and 9th grade students.

Comprehensive 1-week summer camps across a variety of fields to choose from are held at each of the four Oakland Schools Technical Campuses – OSTC-NE (Pontiac), OTSC-NW (Clarkston), OTSC-SE (Royal Oak), and OTSC-SW (Wixom).

1 week of career education in exciting fields costs just $25 per student!

Automotive Technology Safety and fundamentals, Tools and equipment, General maintenance and Quick Lane Service, Career outlook and growth opportunities for Maintenance/Quick Lane Service Tech
Collison Repair – Minor body repair, Car detailing, Paint a panel
Computer Programming – Learn Java Basics including variables, loops and conditional statements, Learn how to program a Finch Robot, Apply your Java coding knowledge to make the Finch do various activities
Culinary Arts / Hospitality – Breakfast foods, sandwiches, desserts, baked goods, salads & garnishing
Cybersecurity Networking – Learn how to secure vulnerability points on PCs and other devices, Create functioning computer networks in a virtual workspace, Get hands-on experience with enterprise-grade Cisco routers and switches, Work with the Cybersecurity-friendly Linux operating system as an alternative to Windows, Learn how hackers will target your systems and how to spot and minimize those attacks
Entrepreneurship & Advanced Marking – Describe marketing’s role and function in business, Plan product/service management activities to facilitate product development, Develop concept for new marketing project and/or business venture, Obtain and convey ideas and information in marketing to facilitate business operations, Understand the use of an advertisement’s components to communicate with targeted audiences.
Health Sciences – Human anatomy, Human physiology, Vital signs, Diet and exercise, First aid
Machining – Learn safe shop practices and machine operation, Learn to operate the band saw to cut raw materials, Learn to use the drill press to perform basic drilling operations, Learn to operate a vertical milling machine to make a cool project! Learn to operate a metal lathe to make your own spinning top! Set up and operate a CNC milling machine to make your own monogrammed keychain!
Medium / Heavy Truck & Equipment – Safety, heavy-duty diesel engines, electronic controls, rail fuel systems, career exploration
Welding – Welding Safety and proper PPE, Stick, MIG and TIG welding, Welded horseshoe project, Plasma and oxy fuel cutting
