Pine Knob Fireworks 2021 – July 4. Independence Twp (Clarkston) Independence Fest is pending/unscheduled for 2021 but the township will still host fireworks for residents to enjoy. It’ll be one of the few fireworks displays this summer you can enjoy because several fireworks shows that have been cancelled or unscheduled for 2021 due to Covid.
Independence Twp Parks, Rec, & Seniors hosted this event successfully in 2020 as a replacement for the Independence Fest Fourth of July carnival & fireworks event. It was a rousing success. Due to remaining uncertainties with covid, the department has scheduled this fireworks show at Pine Knob again for 2021.

Pine Knob Fireworks 2021
The Clarkston / Independence Twp fireworks will be different from traditional fireworks shows due to covid. The goal of the fireworks display is to have as many residents as possible enjoy the fireworks from the safety of their own backyard. The Township has arranged to have the fireworks launched from the top of Pine Knob Ski Hill at 10p and have taken plenty of precautions to make sure there is safe social distancing.
- There will be NO PARKING at either Pine Knob or DTE Music Theatre
- All parking lot gates will be LOCKED to ensure crowds won’t gather near the launching/viewing site
The fireworks will officially start at 10p but warmup rounds may be fired every 5-10 minutes or so beginning at 9p. If you can’t see the warmup rounds of fireworks at 9p, you’ll have plenty of time to move to a new site to enjoy the official 10p fireworks show.

Independence Twp will host fireworks for residents to enjoy from their homes and driving around Clarkston. The Twp will launch fireworks from the top of Pine Knob. Again, this event is to be enjoyed from home. There will be NO PARKING allowed at either the Pine Knob Ski Resort or the DTE Music Theater. All entrance gates will be locked to avoid large crowds from gathering that would put the Township, DTE and Pine Knob at risk of violating current County and State Social Distancing mandates.. I imagine Clarkston roads near DTE & Pine Knob, local parks, and local elementary schools will be a bit more active on July 4 as many curiosity seekers will be out to see if they can catch a good vantage point for the fireworks show.
Oakland County Moms applauds the extended efforts Independence Township has made to put this covid safe solution out there for local residents to help them enjoy the 4th of July holiday. Many communities have been extremely quick to “cancel summer” amidst covid. We’re glad Ind Twp has been able to host fireworks, their spraypark at Clintonwood Park, and swimming at Deer Lake Beach – all while operating safely under current guidelines.
