Pokémon Tips for Beginners

Pokémon Tips for Beginners – Nintendo Pokemon expert offers Pokemon tips for beginners in this interview. Pokémon is a time-tested fad. I remember when it came out and I was curious to see how long it would last. Little did I know that Pokemon has never really gone away! Kids go crazy for Pokémon. Pokemon is exciting and fun yet can be incredibly complex for a beginner. But it doesn’t have to be confusing. I spoke with Nintendo’s Pokémon expert Seth McMahill to find out more and to get some insider Pokemon tips for beginners.

Lisa LaGrou of Oakland County Moms – Pokemon can be intimidating to a new user. Can you give us a quick explanation about the world of Pokémon?

Pokémon expert Seth McMahill – The world of Pokemon is just this fantastic world, if you will, where all of these Pokemon exist. And I guess you could kind of say they’re akin to the animals that we have in the real world. So, dogs, cats, birds… things like that. Those are all represented in the world of Pokemon. But, of course, as Pokemon characters. There are lots of different games that players can play that will allow them to interact in this world of Pokemon. Sometimes as a Pokemon trainer, other times as the actual Pokemon, such as in PokéPark 2: Wonders Beyond, which we’re going to talk about today.

Lisa LaGrou of Oakland County Moms – Tell us more about the new game PokéPark 2: Wonders Beyond. What can fans expect to see that’s different?

Pokémon expert Seth McMahill – Well, PokéPark 2: Wonders Beyond, which is exclusively on the Wii system, is really just a fantastic adventure. It’s made for kids of all ages, it’s very easy to pick up and play, and it’s all about Pikachu and his pals. And, together as a group, as friends, they have to overcome all sorts of obstacles to make their way through PokéPark into WishPark and rescue their missing friend. So, it’s this great story of really coming together as friends, overcoming obstacles, and really triumphing against all odds in the end.

Lisa LaGrou of Oakland County Moms –  Do you have any wonderful secrets you can share; how do you win the game?

Pokémon expert Seth McMahill – The best thing to remember when playing this game, is that you can switch between the characters at pretty much any point in the game. You don’t have to pick one at the beginning of the game. So, each one of them has a special, unique thing that it can do that the others can’t do. It’s very important to know the four Pokemon you have with you and by doing that you can really get a leg up in the adventure.

Lisa LaGrou of Oakland County Moms –  What age group would you say this game is most appropriate for, most easy to grasp, and get somewhere with?

Pokémon expert Seth McMahill – You know, I would say seven would be the young age… a basic reading level would be important. But the content on it, everything like that, it’s really meant to appeal to kids of all ages, the younger ones especially. It’s a great game, again – the values that it teaches and instills are really kind of reflected in real life as well, you know, sticking by your friends and overcoming obstacles – everything like that. It really kind of fits that younger age group as they’re growing up and developing and learning how to deal with obstacles in real life.

Lisa LaGrou of Oakland County Moms –  I know that sometimes with video games, kids can go online and find secrets, tips and tricks. Is there any resource like that for Pokemon?
