Rochester University Summer Theatre Camp

Rochester University Summer Theatre Camp – Shakespeare Upon Avon, Rochester University’s annual 1-week festival, invites kids ages 10-18 (K-12) to rehearse, play games, and be trained by University staff.

This week-long intensive summer camp has been invaluable to those looking to build and hone their gifts as future actors, as well as for those just wanting to build their confidence in front of others. Students will learn skills in theatre, problem-solving, improv, and (of course) acting through games, script-reading, and performance opportunities.

2020 Shakespeare Upon Avon is from 9a-4p daily from 7/27/20-7/31/20.

The students will spend the mornings playing theatre games, learning more about themselves as performers, and practicing all that theatre can do, while in the care of our caring and energetic staff members. In the afternoon, they will rehearse for their special Shakespeare-adapted production, all culminating in a Friday performance of Julius Caesar…Jr. Parents will be invited to see their children display all that they have learned during the week, while building their confidence as performers and public speakers.

Professional mentorship is important to Rochester University, so the Summer Theatre Camp also coincides with Shakespeare Upon Avon’s award-winning mainstage performances, which will give students the chance to observe professional actors at work in their craft while being instructed by Shakespeare Upon Avon’s best and brightest.
