Rodrigo’s is a somewhat smaller building with limited seating inside, but is nicely decorated with the Day of the Dead decor and modern finishes and styling. There’s also ample seating at the bar.

The food at Rodrigo’s is probably the best Mexican food I have had in “Up North” Michigan. I ordered the fajitas and opted to have the Delmar (shrimp and fish) version. Other options include steak, chicken, carnitas, and mixtures of more than one protein. The fajitas were outstanding. We stayed with the corn tortillas since my friend and I are both gluten-free. I personally did not eat the corn tortillas, as the food was good by itself. My friend did have the corn tortillas and said they were fantastic, and the waiter confirmed that they were homemade.
The gratuitous chips and salsa that were brought out to our table were fresh and good quality. I always appreciate the quality chips and salsa as part of the Mexican restaurant experience.
My friend and I both enjoyed a frozen drink. It was a Mexican version of Pina Colada made with tequila. You got to pick the tequila that you wanted used in the drink.
As we viewed what others were ordering at Rodrigo’s, everything looked so good. The menu was filled with typical Mexican dishes like tacos, chimichangas, rellenos, enchiladas, burritos, and more. I would seriously try every single item on the menu if I could.
My only complaint about Rodrigo’s is the price. I know that every single restaurant has had to raise their prices with everything going on. However, I only ordered the fajitas and one drink and my bill was over $40. That was a bit of a sticker shock for me. Maybe I’m just cheap?
