Roeper School Summer Camps 2019 – Roeper School Day Camps, Roeper School Specialty Camps, and Roeper School Summer Stock Theatre Summer Camps. Roeper Summer Programs are designed to provide an enriching and rewarding experience for every child.

The Roeper School offers three distinct summer programs: Day Camp, STEM and Sports Camps; Summer Stock Theatre; and Specialty Camps. Camp life is part of your child’s whole education. Through the high caliber of our counselors, Reoper delivers a program so rich and varied that all children’s talents, skills and interests are explored and developed in an engaging atmosphere. Roeper Summer Programs are designed to provide an enriching and rewarding experience for every child. Diversity, an appreciation for all people and respect for everyone’s potential are central characteristics of the Roeper community. While the school is designed for gifted children, participation in Roeper Summer Programs is open to all children.

Roeper School Summer Camps 2019 – Summer Day Camps Info

Roeper Summer Day, STEM and Sports Camps 2019
Roeper Summer Day Camp has been a recreational day camp for children 3-12 years old since 1947. Children’s talents, skills and interests are explored and developed in a nurturing and challenging atmosphere. Freedom to choose exists within an organized structure. These choices provide the intrinsic motivation necessary for empowerment and self-fulfillment.

Its 13-acre campus includes woodlands, a creek, an athletic field, two swimming pools, playgrounds, nature trails and numerous activity buildings. The Community Center Building contains a gymnasium, locker rooms, classrooms and lunch room. Activities including art, crafts, dance, drama, music, pottery, science, specialty crafts, swimming, field games, computer, coop games and outdoor adventure are offered at the Day Camp.

Roeper Summer Day, STEM, & Sports Camps are available to children currently in second grade through age 12. In Hybrid Camps, campers participate in Summer Day Camp activities for half of the day and, during the other half of the day, campers attend either Soccer Camp, Lacrosse Camp, or Technology Camp.

  • Session 1 – June 24-July 5 (no camp July 4)
  • Session 2 – July 8-19
  • Session 3 – July 22-August 2
  • Session 4 – August 5-16

Roeper School Summer Camps run 8:30a-3:30p. Before and after care is available for an additional fee. STEM Camp is offered all four sessions with sessions 1 and 3 offering JavaScript Programming & Minecraft Game Design. Sessions 2 and 4 offer 3D Printing & Roblox Game Design. Soccer is offered sessions 3 and 4. Lacrosse is only offered session 2.

A hot lunch, included in tuition, is provided daily.

Roeper Summer Day Camp, STEM, and Sports Camps Camps take place at The Roeper Lower School, 41190 Woodward Ave, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48304. For Lacrosse and Soccer activities, campers are bussed to and from Ultimate Soccer, 867 South Blvd, Pontiac, MI 48341.

Roeper Summer Programs- Specialty Camps
From forensics to robotics, a variety of Roeper Summer Specialty Camps are offered to children currently in grades 2-11. These camps are smaller in size and shorter in duration than other Roeper Summer camps, and allow campers to have fun and learn from Roeper teachers who are experts in their fields.

Roeper School Summer Camps 2019 – Roeper Summer Stock Theatre

Roeper Summer Stock Theatre is designed to develop and showcase the skills of students interested in theatre training. Students work with a variety of professional theatre instructors specializing in various techniques and areas of skill development. All students participate in activities and games to build skills in acting, singing and dancing and participate in a final show at the end of their session. Each session is customized to meet the needs of students exploring theatre for the first time, as well as for the more experienced actor.

Roeper Summer Stock Theatre offers four separate programs for children from 4 years of age through 11th grade. Children are placed in a division according to their age. Each division is taught by nurturing instructors who are professionals in their field. Instructors are assisted by two counselors who have experience in the theatrical arts.

Summer Stock Theatre- Senior (children currently in grades 5-11) This program provides a solid theatre basis for all students while challenging the more seasoned actor. At the end of the three-week session, a musical is performed for family, friends and other members of the community. Acting, singing and dancing skills are developed. Instruction is provided by professionals in their respective fields who work in Michigan regional theatres or schools. This year’s shows are A Chorus Line – High School Edition and Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins JR .

Summer Stock Theatre- Junior (children currently in grades 3-5) Students have fun learning the basics of theatre, specifically in the areas of character development, improvisation, movement, dance and music from professionals working in Michigan regional theatres or schools. At the end of each two-week session, students perform for family, friends and other members of the community. This year’s shows are –

  • Session 2The Trials of Alice in Wonderland
  • Session 3Brats in Space

Summer Stock Theatre- Primary (children currently in kindergarten through grade 2) With a focus on exploration in theatre, music and dance, this program provides ample structure with plenty of time for playing and exploring different aspects of performing on the stage. Daily activities include skill-building classes, games, crafts, activities and more taught by teachers who are experts in their fields. Each two-week session culminates in an original final performance featuring scenes, dances and musical numbers.

Summer Stock Theatre- Preschool (children currently 4 or 5 years old) This program will unleash your child’s imagination through an exploration of acting, music and dance. Led by an experienced teacher and two assistants, each session includes singing, skits, games, crafts, activities and more. Each one-week half-day session culminates in a short presentation of selected skits, songs and dances. Campers may also enroll for a full day experience, which adds structured enrichment activities and games in the afternoon. All campers must be able to use the bathroom independently. Pull-ups are not allowed at camp.
