Snap Circuits Extreme SC-750 Review – review of Snap Circuits Extreme SC-750, the deluxe version of Snap Circuits for kids ages 8 and up.
If you’re child is interested in Technology, Science, or Engineering, it’s hard to imagine a better toy than Snap Circuits. Snap Circuits Extreme SC-750 is the deluxe version of the Snap Circuits toys. Calling it a toy is somewhat of a misnomer.
The Snap Circuits are basically kits of science related activities that involve electronic circuits. They come with several parts and everything “snaps” easily into place using VERY easy to follow instructions.
My son started with the Snap Circuits Jr 4 years ago and played with it often. 4 years later, it was finally time to step up and upgrade the set so he can do new projects. Talk about a no-brainer as a present… it’s nice when you can give your child something that they’ll play with for literally years and not get tired of.
The difference between the Snap Circuits kits are the number of parts and projects that you can do. Here’s a breakdown of each kit:

The wonderful thing about Snap Circuits kits are that they are suitable for so many ages. The box even says “for ages 8-108.” I’ve played it several times with my son and I truly enjoy it. Yes, it’s educational, but it’s the most fun way to learn these types of skills.
The pieces that come with the Snap Circuits Extreme kit are snap wires, slide switches, resistors, an FM radio module, and a solar cell; all snap together easily on the included plastic grid. Each piece is numbered and color-coded to make identifying them easy, and there’s a nice piece chart that lays out how to put all the pieces away back into the box so you’re sure to keep tabs on all the parts. When using the kit, the parts are combined to create working circuit boards just like the ones found inside televisions, radios, and other electronic devices. We’ve been able to make siren sounds, led strobe lights, vibrations, electromagnetism, a working AM radio and more!
Part of the 750 projects include the use of a computer interface for 50 of the projects. There is software and PC-interface cable included that allows you to view waveforms and frequencies, just like an electronics engineer.
The Snap Circuits Extreme SC-750 can also be upgraded to the Snap-Micro I Standard (SCM-400) with the purchase of a UC-100 upgrade kit. Kids will enjoy additional parts, manuals, and projects. Snap Circuits Extreme SC-750 requires four AA batteries, which are not included.
Seeing how each of these projects is constructed and what is working and how it’s all connected to make other parts function is a great way to explore your child’s interest in this type of field. Or, simply do it for the fun of it!
