Trini and Carmen’s Mexican Restaurant

Trini and Carmen’s Mexican Restaurant Waterford Mexican Restaurant Review – Pics, hours, and menu info. Trini and Carmen’s is a long-time staple of Waterford MI and known for being one of the best Oakland County Mexican restaurants around.

I visited Trini and Carmen’s Mexican Restaurant for lunch one day to check it out. The interior is all decked out with a colorful Mexican flair. It’s a pretty big restaurant with plenty of seating. Trini and Carmen’s gets kind of busy during the weekday lunch hour, and they tend to seat everyone in the same corner – probably because they only had one waitress on staff. It got kind of loud because there weren’t any buffer seats and all the people who were dining there were all seated in the same section.

Dining in at Trini and Carmen’s Mexican Restaurant begins with the usual salsa and chips. The salsa is great. It comes with two bottles of salsa and empty bowls so you can make your own combinations of hot/mild and refill as needed. The salsa is served with thick cut tortilla chips, and has a nice blend of smooth with some tomato chunks.

Trini and Carmen’s offers lunch specials on weekdays, Monday through Friday from 11a-2p, as well as Daily Specials (including creative cocktails). The menu is full and offers all kinds of Mexican food – taquitos, tostadas, burritos, tacos, fajitas, flautas, chimichangas and more. Trini and Carmens also offers a la carte items for order. Although we did not see single tacos on this menu (the a la carte menu had two tacos), my husband wanted to order one taco and they were able to do that. I ordered the shrimp fajitas.

The food took about 40 minutes to come out. My husband’s burrito was generic but good. The shrimp fajitas were good as well. The fajita mixture came with the usual pepper and onion mix, but also with zucchini and mushroom. The dish was well seasoned and the shrimp were large and had a nice grill flavor.

The pico that came with the fajitas was just diced tomatoes and shredded iceberg lettuce. There was no seasoning/herbs, no diced onions, and it wasn’t even mixed so all the flavors could meld together. I’ve had much better pico at Mexican Village.

Trini and Carmen’s has a full drink menu with funky Margarita options, beer, Mexican beer, wine, and specialty coffees. Trini and Carmens also has a party room available for up to 60 guests.
