TROY RECREATION EVENTS CALENDAR

TFAC offers four pools and plenty of waterpark fun for kids of all ages in the heart of Oakland County, Michigan. The Troy Family Aquatic Center is operated and maintained by The City of Troy and is open to both Troy, MI residents and non-residents.

OAKLAND COUNTY WATERPARKS AND SPRAYPARKS

TFAC has 4 separate pools – The huge main pool, the waterslides splashdown pool, zero-depth splash pad with mini geysers, and shallow (1 ft 6 in deep) pool with splash fountains and 20-foot waterfall soaking area.

Troy Family Aquatic Center

One of the first facets I noticed upon my visit to Troy Aquatic was the focus on fun and safety – especially for younger visitors. Each pool, splash area and waterslide area has friendly lifeguard staff on-hand to assist in the fun and ensure safety throughout the park.

The 11,000 square foot main pool features “zero depth” entry to eliminate the need for potentially dangerous pool ladders or “jumping in” accidents. A majority of the pool has depths of less than 4 feet. The “deep end” of the Troy Family Aquatic Center pool is 5 feet deep and has 6 swimming lanes that are 25-yards long. Their pool is well supervised with lifeguard stands throughout the pool deck. There are no diving boards and diving is prohibited.

The Troy Aquatic Center is much more than a large community pool, it’s also an awesome waterpark that has 2 impressive waterslides that spill into a life-guarded pool. Pick up a tube (provided for free) and cruise down a 175 inner tube slide or sail down the other, equally thrilling waterslide sans tube. Both slides have height restrictions of 42 inches and require supervision of children under 10 years old.

The pool has a smaller waterslide and splashpad / splash area for smaller children or kids who may not be strong swimmers. Kids love to splash and play under the waterfall and bounce from geyser to geyser.

Adding to the waterpark experience, Troy Aquatic Center features a large, modern playground/playscape, a sand playground space (complete with foot showers), and 2 well-maintained sand volleyball courts.

You’re more than welcome to bring your own picnic lunch to the many picnic tables that dot the landscape around the Aquatic Center. Or, you can enjoy food and drinks at the spacious (and extremely affordable) concession stand.

Despite being more than 20 years old, The Aquatic Center is impeccably clean, modern, and well-managed. I appreciate how the design of the facility is contained so all areas of the park are within short walking distances. Not nearly as sprawling as waterparks like Red Oaks or Waterford Oaks, it’s very easy to keep an eye on the kids at TFAC. There are bigger waterslides and wavepools in Metro Detroit but TFAC is a nearly idyllic and affordable waterpark to take the kids (especially the youngsters) for some warm weather fun!
