The district realizes its mission of educating students to be their best in and for the world through the new Portrait of a Graduate initiative. The district’s Portrait of a Graduate focuses on four key competencies that, when fostered and developed, will help West Bloomfield students to be successful in all phases of their lives in the future. These four key competencies are referred to as the 4Cs and stand for Contributor, Critical Thinker, Collaborator and Communicator. Through the Portrait of a Graduate and the 4Cs, students will be successful no matter what they choose to do upon leaving the West Bloomfield. It is the district’s belief that once a student masters these four skills, they will be prepared for whatever their futures have in store.
Along with success in the classroom, a strong emphasis is placed on building relationships both among students and between students and staff members. The West Bloomfield Schools has fully embraced the Capturing Kids Hearts methodology in its classrooms and the feedback from students, staff and families has been tremendous. When students feel valued and welcomed at school, they are happier and more successful.
