Beach Bag Essentials

Beach Bag Essentials – Great tips for what to pack as you head to the beach for a summer of fun! Summer has officially arrived, and your kids are probably home from school for the next three months. Let’s face it – they are eventually going to go stir-crazy playing inside. Sometimes a day trip to the beach or a short weekend trip to the lake is just what they – and you – need. But going to the beach is not always as easy as it sounds. Between making sure you have everything you need, carrying everything from the car, making sure you don’t lose anything and watching the kids, going to the beach can be stressful. However, there are ways you too can enjoy a sunny beach day.

Beach Bag Essentials

Beach Bag Essentials #1 – Bring toys
Whether in the sand or in the water, kids of all ages can agree that beach toys are a must. Young children enjoy digging in the sand and building sand castles, while older children may want to bring their floating toys and inner tubes for a day out on the water. Ask your kids what they want to bring to the beach. This will keep you from forgetting his or her favorite toys or bringing a toy that no one will play with.

Beach Bag Essentials #2 – Put Everything in One Bag
This sounds simple, but it can really make a difference. Carrying one large bag down to the beach instead of a couple of smaller ones will help make your beach setup go much smoother. In addition, having one large bag or wagon for the kids’ toys will cut down on the number of trips to the car. If they are old enough, they can help carry their toys to the beach.

Beach Bag Essentials #3 – Pack Drinks and Snacks
Playing in the water and enjoying the sand on a sunny day can be tiring, so make sure your kids have enough snacks and drinks to satisfy them. It is important for both kids and adults to stay hydrated, especially on hot, humid days. So remember to bring a drink and a snack for yourself too. Keep your drinks cold by either bringing a small cooler or freezing your drinks overnight. But remember to drain some of the liquid out of the container prior to freezing.

Beach Bag Essentials #4 – Sunscreen and Hats
Slathering sunscreen on energetic kids is no simple task. However, the more often you apply sunscreen to your kids’ skin, the less of a chance they have of getting sunburned. Rest assured, this will save you time and tears shed in the near future. For added protection, you can make sure each of your children has his or her own hat.

Beach Bag Essentials #5 – Swimming Lessons
You can’t put ’em in the bag but have the knowledge BEFORE you pack the beach bag! Before your kids run to the beach, make sure they know the fundamentals of water safety by registering them for a Jump Start Clinic at Goldfish Swim School. Whether your child is new to swim lessons or a seasoned swimmer, Jump Start Clinics are a great fit for all skill levels. New swimmers will learn important safety techniques and the basics of swimming. Enrolling an experienced swimmer in a clinic will help your child perfect skills and improve his or her swim safety knowledge. Jump Start Clinics are 30-minute lessons at the same time everyday for one week. Lessons are held with the same instructor each day. As a parent, you are probably going to worry about your children no matter what, but you can rest a little easier knowing they have the skills necessary to be safer in the water.

Follow these tips and you can enjoy your beach trip just as much as the kids.
