Oakland County Moms Calendar of Metro Detroit Summer Events
Mwindo – Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit presents MWINDO, a central African folktale full of trials and tribulations, heroic beings, fantastical creaters and puppets developed by Detroit Puppet Company in collaboration with Mosaic’s young artists. Guests that arrive 45 minutes before showtime for a special make-and-take puppet workshop. This is a FREE event.
Detroit Halloween Bash – Food and drink will be available for purchase. There will be music, a dog costume parade at 6p, pick up a free trick-or-treat bag for your pet, raffle baskets, a 50/50 drawing and more. Detroit Santa Claus Pet Photos – Detroit K-9’s team of professional photographers will photograph your family & pets in a beautiful holiday scene. A $5 donation is suggested with 100% of the photo proceeds benefiting Dog Aide, a non-profit organization with the mission to provide assistance to dog owners in the City of Detroit that are experiencing a financial hardship. Hart Community Center Santa’s Winter Wonderland – Families will receive one free 5×7 photo w/Santa, treat, take home craft, and a visit to Santa’s mailbox. Campus Martius Valentine’s Day Sweetheart Skate – What’s more romantic than gliding along the ice hand-in-hand with your sweetheart while enjoying majestic views of the Detroit skyline? The rink will be lit up with the colors of love and feel-good ballads and classic love songs will fill the air. All couples are welcome to join this celebration of love. Tickets and skate rentals may be purchased onsite at the park and are offered on a first come, first served basis. Admission – Adults $12, Under 12 $9.
Indian Springs Metropark Earth Day Camp – Day camp for kids will cover the basics of reduce, reuse, recycle. Campers will learn to be more conscious visitors in the parks and in nature. Enjoy lots of fun projects and crafts. Please bring a lunch and wear clothes that can get messy. Ages 7+. $40 per person. Pre-registration is required online or by calling 248-625-7280.
