Bloomer Park Making Maple Syrup – 11a-12:30p OR 1p-2:30p (2 sessions to choose from). Learn the first steps to make your own Maple Syrup. From identifying various species of maple tree, to the tree tapping process and sap boiling setup. You’ll leave with all the knowledge you need to make your own syrup and the Spile, Tubing, and Bucket to tap your own Maple Tree. Troy Sensory Santa Visits – Sensory Friendly Santa and Mrs Claus event. This event is completely FREE. Participants must register for a date and time at oxfordrecoverycenter.com.
Pontiac’s Annual Community Autism Event – This is a FREE event. Donations are accepted. The event will consist of over 15 different activity stations for the children to make, create and play however they’d like. The event will provide food and snacks, gift bags, raffles, bounce houses, face paintings, live performances etc. For more info, email joyallen22@gmail.com.
Hockey Mentors for Special Olympians – Hockey Mentors offers an afternoon of free hockey and ice skating for individuals with any type of special needs, whether that is cognitive, physical or emotional, their family and caregivers. The family friendly event, taking place in two of the Troy Sports Center rinks, includes skate rental, hockey equipment, lunch, t-shirt for those skating and a jersey for guests trying out hockey. Discovery at Dusk – wbparks.org Hit the trails for a sunset hike while searching for the animals most active during twilight. You might be lucky enough to spot fireflies. After the hike, bask in the glow of a campfire, roast s’mores and listen to some stories. This is a family program, all children and adults must register. $7 residents / $9 non-residents.
