During this outdoor program, make some “green” Halloween décor, and discuss ways in which everyone can make this holiday a little less frightful for the planet. Indian Springs Metropark Santa’s Winter Wonderland Walk – Take a short stroll along the candy cane trail for a chance to meet a variety of Christmas characters. Peek into Santa’s workshop to spot him getting ready for the big night. He’ll be busy, but not too busy to stop and talk. Be sure to drop your letter into his mailbox too. Tours leave at scheduled times and late arrivals may not be accommodated. Social distancing and face coverings are required. All ages event. $5. Children under 2 are FREE. Must pre-register by 12/3. Indian Springs Metropark Spring Night Hike – at Indian Springs Metropark (248-625-6640, metroparks.com)
Learn to recognize some of the native frogs and toads of Michigan by their calls; we will listen for them out among the wetlands on the nature trails. In addition to seated activities at the picnic shelter, we will walk approximately 1.5 miles on mainly level, gravel and dirt trails. Dress for the weather, rain or shine, as this program will be all outdoors. Face coverings and social distancing are required. Ages 7+. $5. Pre-register at least 1 day in advance at 248-625-7280.
Indian Springs Metropark Events Walk with Dragons – Learn about dragonflies & hike through the prairie in search of some dragonflies. Visit one of the ponds to learn about the life cycle of a dragonfly. Close encounters with these insects are possible. Expect to walk approximately one mile on gravel trails. Social distancing and face coverings are required. All ages. $3 per child, $5 per adult, children under 2 FREE. Pre-register at least 1 day in advance at 248-625-7280.
Longacre House Breakfast for Dinner with Santa – Come join Santa for dinner. It’s Breakfast with Santa with an evening twist. Santa will join you to share stories of the North Pole, play reindeer games and sing songs. Make a wish list or tell Santa your one greatest wish. Bring your cameras to capture every moment. Registration required for both adult and child. Hosted by the City of Farmington Hills Special Services Department.

Travel out to the woods to see the tapping of maple trees, sap collection, and visit the evaporator to learn about the boiling of maple sap. This program is entirely outdoors and runs every hour. You can expect to walk about one-mile on gravel nature trails. Social distancing and face coverings are required. Dress for the weather. $3 per child, $5 per adult, children under two free. All Ages.
