Cranberry Lake Park History of Maple Sugaring – at Cranberry Lake Park. Learn a little about how this treat was first discovered, the advancements in the technology that allowed us to harvest and produce enough for the world, and the science behind how this sticky confectionary is even possible. Stony Creek Metropark Maple Sugaring – March 6, 13, 20, & 27 from 10a-3p (1 hour sessions). Learn the history of sugaring and how to identify maple trees. Hike into the spring woods to tap a maple. Afterwards, return to the campfire and learn the process of boiling sap into rich maple syrup. Face coverings and social distancing are required. All ages. $5 per person. Pre-registration is required at least 1 day in advance online or call 586-781-9113. 10a-11:30a, noon-1:30p, 2p–3:30p.
